While the bass that youngboy suggested is a great sounding bass, with a very easy neck as well!.!.!. I know of 2 drawbacks to this bass!. Its a 32 inch scale, which is shorter than standard scale on a bass!.!.!. plus is VERY uncomfortable and awkward to play while sitting down!. My great nephew purchased one of these!.!.!.!. and regretts doing so for those 2 reasons!. Hes getting ready to trade it in for one of these!.!.!.!.!.

I would highly recommend this bass for any player of any level!. Peavey is well known for their high end Cirrus line of basses!. Ive played a few of these Millennium Basses before, and while its not in the same league as my $2000 Five String Cirrus or my $2400 Six String Cirrus!.!.!. it is a very well made and exceptional sounding bass for the money!.
Every one that I have played has been very consistent in the fit, finish, playability, sound!.!. and the most important factor of any instrument in this price range!.!.!.!. the way the frets are set and dressed in the neck!.

By the way!.!. disregard the comment on learn how to play the 6 string first!. Doesnt matter what instrument you start on!.!.!. your better off learning on what you REALLY want to play rather than what someone thinks you should play!. An instrument your "forced" to play will just sit around and collect dust!. One you want to play and want to learn will probably get wore out! I played Upright Bass for 10 years, classically trained before I even picked up an electric bass!. It was what I wanted to play!.!.!.!.!. and made me a better musician later in life!.

Hope this helps!.!.!. Happy Shopping!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Theres to many to actually list, make sure you find something with a good solid wood body (NOT a MDF or composite body)!.

also, pickups, Active Pickups (requires a battery) produce better sound range, but the downside is, well, they need batteries!. Passive Pickups don't require batteries but still give a superb sound, and for a beginner would work perfectly!.

also, for a first guitar, buy used!. Yes, it's a bit worn, but it looks all the much better!. Make sure it's not to beat up, but some wear is fine!. Used is cheaper, and still works good if it was well taken care of!.

tl;dr: Used solid wood body guitar with Passive PickupsWww@QuestionHome@Com

I would agree with poory about my choice!. It will be more difficult to handle!. However in truth I personally wouldn't recommend buying anything unless you have actually had a chance to pick it up and play it!. Even if you never played before a good salesperson can help in showing you the correct stance!.

I should have prefaced my choice with that information!.

My goal was to show you that there are a great many types and makes of guitars that are favored by one person and not by others!.

ESP makes a great many selections and I was only showing you one choice!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

hey,
i owned a peavey milestone III bass, now i own a peavey millenium 4 string BXP bass with demarzio ultra jazz pickups installed!.
i got the millenium because the milestone was such a good bass the first time!. they are very similiar in body style!.
the neck is thinner then average bass guitars ( i know cuz an average nut won't fit on my bass!.)
my peavey stays in tune very nicely!.
i got my millenium for $179!.

and my peavey millenium sounds super sick on my fender bassman 250 amp (15inch speaker with horn)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well, many people will tell you "Get a Squier by fender", don't listen to them!. A squiers are cheap!. Get a Dean bass, they're cheap but with very good quality!. But they are for metal!.

I guess you don't have an amp, these packs got everything you need!. Try the Ibanez, the Deans or Epiphones!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
