It's probably because you need to get the neck adjusted!. The string is hitting one or more of the frets when it shouldn't!. This can be caused by a change in humidity or the wrong tension strings (which isn't likely)!. Take it in to your local music store and have them do a set-up!. They'll adjust the neck, bridge, clean up the fretboard, and put on some new strings for around $35 (at least that's what my music store charges)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Your problem is that you're getting fret buzz!. This happens when you strum the string, and the string vibrates against the fret!. You can fix this by strumming differently, or adjusting your bridge!. If you look at the bridge, you will see the saddles, the metal pieces that hold up the strings!. You can usually raise and lower these with a small Allen wrench!.

If it isn't a metallic buzzing, but a more digital-ish noise, you could have the gain turned up too much on your amp, or the tone on your guitar turned too much!. (assuming it's an electric)!. Your problem may also be because of a cable issue!. You can fix this by buying a better, more expensive cable with copper shielding!. Sometimes your cable can pick up radio signals and buzz a lot!.

Ok Ed

Two things is possible!.

Try to raise the bass side of the bridge if it is an electric guitar!.

If that doesn`t hel or the guitar is an acoustic type, put oyur eye on the headstock and look towards the bridge!.
Their should be a clearance of 1/16" between string and fingerboard!.

Loosen the two middle string!.
Just put one finger on the 1st fret and another on the 12th fret!.
This is a straight line!. If the string touches in the middle, you have to turn the truss rod counter-clockwise 1/4 turn!.

Now re-tune the 2 middle strings!. if still no clearance, turn another 1/4 turn !. Do this until the neck has a dip in it (string clearance)!.

If the neck has a clearance , then you have adjusted the neck perfectly!. If it still buzzes a little, the string can be defective!. When you hit the string, it should always have a nice smooth vibration in a loop form!. If it is erractic, the string is faulty!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
