Question: Ahh please, HELP ME!!?
I'm attending a Fine Arts Camp this summer for the Bb clarinet, and apparantly I have to do an audition!. What it says on the sheet is:
"!.!.!.Music auditions consist of several major scales, a chromatic scale the full range of the instrument, and sight-reading!."

What scales are most likely going to be in the audition, and a bigger problem is I need a site that will help me with the chromatic scale!. What does it mean by "the full range of the instrument:"!? where can I find the fingerings!? Please help me!?!Www@QuestionHome@Com

the chromatic scale for a clarinet i think ranges from low E to high E!.!.!.so having to do that on the 'full range of the instrument" basically means being able to play every note that is presented before you on the clarinet!. I'm pretty sure you don't have to have it memorized though, hope I was of some help! If you practice enough I'm sure you'll do great!.!.!.good luck!!! oh & you can probably just google the chromatic scales for the clarinet and it should pop up!!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

for the scales, work on them all, in order, until you have them memorized, i was in my school band last year and we had to preform them all from memory in under one minute, mine you, most of our band was in 7th grade, the full range is every single note, for the fingerings, get a book for your clarinet, i took the flute, but i am pretty sure that the clarinet books will have all the fingerings in the back, in order of the chromatic scale, 2 for 1 :) and for sight reading, just flip through the book to random pages and start playing, you should probably get level 2 or 3 book, not beginner, good luck fellow bandgeek (yeah, in my school, we are proud to be bandgeeks, 1st place almost every time we compete)Www@QuestionHome@Com

do you already play the clarinet or are you going to learn!? if you've been playing for any period of time, you should know all that stuff off the top of your head anyway!. if you're going to learn, you should try a different kind of camp!. "the full range of the instrument" just means from the lowest note the instrument can play to the highest!. the chromatic scale just refers to playing every note including flats/sharps!.!.!. ex!. c, cb, d, db, e, eb!.!.!.!. (with the b being a flat) and so on!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Ok calm down first please! In the audition, they will probably only ask you to do a few of the scales!. I think you get to pick them!. At least that's how they did it at my band camp!. As for fingerings, look up, "Bb clarinet fingerings" in your search engine!. What they mean by "Full range" is all the notes the instrument can play, from the highest to the lowest!. I play the flute, but that doesn't mean i didn't pay attention when my director was teaching the clarinets! :)Www@QuestionHome@Com
