Chloe T's husband is wrong!. You have a steel string guitar and you must use steel strings on it!. There are about a jillion different kinds and you would do well to go to your local store and look them over and ask for recommendations!. You might want to buy a few different sets and keep trying them until you find the ones you like the best!.

I happen to like and recommend Elixir Nanoweb light gauge strings!. They are more expensive than regular strings but they last a long, long time and eliminate any squeaks!.

Chloe T is also wrong about replacing strings!. It doesn't really matter whether you replace the strings one at a time or remove them all (which, by the way, gives you a good opportunity to clean the fretboard)!. I happen to replace them one at a time but either way is fine!. Your neck is sturdy enough to withstand a few minutes of relaxed tension!.

Good luck!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

My husband says that Nylon strings are better for acoustic guitars but it depends on what kind of sound you want!. You may also want to go with Blue Steel acoustic strings!. also do not take all of the strings off first and tehn put new ones on, replace one string at a time!. Not doing so may cause your neck to warp!. He has been playing for 11 years!. Hope this helps!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Nice choice! I own a takamine EG540ssc or something like that!. I use Polyweb light and medium gauge strings by Elixir!. I love them!. I change them about every 4-6 months just cuz i don't want them to sharpen the nut on my guitar!. Nanowebs are nice too, i just ended up preferring poly after a couple tries!. Yes, they are expensive, but i can't recall when i last busted a elixir string if that counts for anything!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Sometimes I like to use the Elixir nanoweb strings on my bright electrics to dampen their tone some!.

On acoustics I've always preferred Martin Marquis Bronze

I've played 20 years!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I would use Martin heavy strings!. They have the best tone of any acoustic string i have ever used!. Dont use nylon!. They are for classical guitars!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
