When you tounge the notes once! As oposed to double tounging and triple tounging which you will learn later on I am sure! Just concentrate on getting a soft, clean sound with your toungue!. Not just thud thud thud!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Single tonguing is probably what you are already doing!. Like when you have quarter notes, and your tongue touches the reed "ta ta ta ta!." Sometimes, and this is more a brass thing, I think, with fast notes, it's easier to double tongue!. So instead of ta ta ta, you go ta ka ta ka ta ka!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It's pretty much what you're already doing!. Double tonguing is mainly when you use the front and back of the tongue!. It is used in brass, flutes, and piccolo!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
