Question: Saxophone question!?
Hi, i recently inherited a gigantic saxophone from my beloved uncle!. its about 6 feet tall and weighs nearly 50 pounds!. i did some research on it and i believe its called the contrabass saxophone!. I play the tenor sax, but this is very hard to play cause its a workout just holding it up!.

My question is that if i decide to sell it, where is the best place to do so such as the internet, a high end music store etc!. its just that i heard its still rare so i wanted to make sure i get a good deal!?

Plz helpWww@QuestionHome@Com

HAHA! The things people leave behind!.!.!. If I had the money, I would be on your doorstep tonight to take it off your hands! LOL

I would most definitly take it to a private dealer!.!.!. if it is truly a contrabass, you're looking at $20,000 to $40,000 as a potential price tag, depending on the condition of the horn!. If it's prestine, you could maybe get a little more!. You don't want to be dealing with these large amounts of money over the net!. Not only that, any potential buyer will want to check it out- only a moron would fork over a down payment on a house without seeing the goods first!

By all means, if you choose to sell it privately use the web as an advertising tool, but don't SELL it over the web, sight unseen by the buyer, and make sure to verify the funds before handing it over to anybody! If you sell it privately, you should still take it to be appraised by a reputable dealer, and make sure you get their appraisal certified and in writing- it will assure the buyer of the instruments' value, and give them less room to bargain!.

Good luck- but honestly, I hope you keep it- and some day, learn to play it!. (You know they make stands to hold the thing up so you can play it, right!? There are idiots who use a neckstrap!.!.!. why you would do that to yourself is beyond me!)Anyways, What an awesome inheritance! LOLWww@QuestionHome@Com

I wouldn't try the internet - a high-end music store is probably your best bet!. Even if they can't sell it themselves, they should be able to recommend someone who can help you!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
