Question: Is this a cello or a double bass!?

They're all correct, it's a cello!.!.!.

How do you tell!? A cello's headpiece (the box where the neck ends) is somewhere near the player's ear!. The double bass is larger, its headpiece juts out further above the player's head, and its tuning pegs face down instead of out like the cello's!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

That is a cello!. You can tell because the player is seated!. Double bass players stand to play!. also, if you look at the black knobs (tuners) in the scroll (the wooden structure near the players head), the tuners jut outwards as opposed to back on a double bass!. Usually the double bass has metal tuners while a cello has wooden ones!.

Hope I helped! :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

That would be a pretty cheap looking cello! The player sits to play!. The scroll, neck and shoulders are much smaller than that of a bass!. also, you'll notice the gentleman's hand position is very different than a bassist's would be!.
