Check out the local music stores, or be prepared to travel a little!. Whatever you do, DO NOT(and I repeat: NOT!) buy online, off ebay, or sight-unseen!

You need to play an instrument before you know for sure if it suits you!. And since instruments tend to be quite the investment, I'm sure you don't want to spend a bunch of money just to end up not liking it!. What you need to do is find a few music stores(if you can find a luthier shop that specializes in violins or string instruments, even better!. I'm looking in my phone book and found both here in my area!. For me it's under 'musical instruments/repairs' so dig through those yellow pages!), and then go, tell them you're looking for a new instrument, and try out as many as you can!. When I was looking for my violin, I think I played on upwards of 40 instruments(!? I lost count) before I finally chose mine!. You just have to see what suits you, and find one that has a sound and tone that you like!. Don't be afraid to play on a whole bunch of violins and play on them A LOT!. One or two scales isn't enough to really hear it!. You've got to play soft and loud, dig in and back off, high and low, just about anything you can play!.

Good luck finding something!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well, I would check the local music shops and try their violins!. If you like the way it feels, sounds, and plays, then you should think about purchasing it!. If you want an edgier sound and look, check out woodviolins!.com!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
