Question: Helo on alternate picking!?
I need help on alternate picking!. Any As I Lay Dying fans here!? well, im trying to play their song called 94 Hours however the intro's kinda fast for me so alternate picking is the only way where i can pick fast w/o using much energy and my problem is whenever i pick up/downstroke, my left hand on the fretboard isnt in the same tempo!. The picking sound will be like im palm-muting or whatsoever!. How can I fix this!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

It will sound muted because you are leaning on the bridge slightly and you are not using your wrist action too well!.

TO gain speed in alternate picking, pracitice 1-2-3-4 fingering with alternate picking!. Slow at first, and increase till you are comfortable and hold it for 1 minute!.

Not that easy is it!?

Then, alternate pick 1-2-3 (3 notes only on 2 different strings)
ex!. 1-2 on the 5th string, and the 3 note on the 4th string!.

A little tricky but that is the proper way!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Practice SLOW, preferably with a metronome!.

Slow the song way, way down, Find a nice slow tempo, slow enough so that you can coordinate your right and left hands to play this song cleanly!. Practice along with a metronome at this slow tempo until you can play the intro cleanly, with your right and left hands perfectly coordinated, with good tone and perfectly in time with the 'nome every time you play it!. Then bump the metronome tempo up a couple of notches and practice it again, over and over until you get it clean, coordinated and in time at this tempo; then bump the 'nome up a bit faster and practice it some more, etc!.

Eventually you'll have the intro fully up to speed and clean with your right and left hands perfectly coordinated!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
