Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: it means you take your low e and tuning down until it is a d!. you can play a d on another string at first to know where to tune it but quickly you'll be able to hear when it's right just by playing the bottom two strings open!. the third thickest string is a DWww@QuestionHome@Com Don't use this tuning unless you want to eventually scrap your guitar fingerboard!. Many use this tuning but on their second guitar!. It often screws up the neck eventually!. But if you only drop E to D on the 6th string, then that's no problem as long as you retune it back to pitch after playing!.Www@QuestionHome@Com Just drop the low (bass) E string down one whole note to D so that the strings are DADGBE!. When you depress that string at the 12th fret (or play the harmonic there) it should sound the same as string 4 (D)!.
