Ugh I experience the same thing when I practice for long hours, it really hurts and usually I have to stop practicing!. What I find myself doing sometimes is trying to hold the pinky key so hard, kind of using my pinky as a balance because it occasionally feels insecure without it!. Maybe try putting more of the pressure on your thumb underneath the instrument instead of on your pinky!.

The website link posted is a great resource for any flutists and it could help you, also!.

Another suggestion would be to try and find an Alexander technique teacher who can help you specifically (the Alexander technique is a health technique that when applied to musicians can help prevent future injury and stress from repetitive movements, etc)!. I found two in my area that I really want to see, one through a professional musician and another through the music school I'll be attending!. Maybe ask around, they might be able to determine what you can do within 5 minutes!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

why does an experianced Flutist need to answer that can't a biggener tell you that

i play the saxaphone and my teatcher says that the pain is because i don't have a strong pinky
the reason you don't have the pain in piano is because your pressing down not out if you understandWww@QuestionHome@Com
