Question: Guitar tuning question!?
okay so i feel kindof stupid asking this question, but here goes:

im new at playing the electric guitar, and i bought one of those electric tuners!. so when i went to use it to tune my guitar, it said a couple of the strings were playing sharper than they were supposed to!. so i tried turning the tuners to fix it, but its still sharp and i cant get it to go any flatter!.

so what am i supposed to do!?
and if the tuner says its sharp, which way should i turn the tuners (i tried turning it both ways, and it didnt do anything either way)!?
also, are you supposed to turn it a whole bunch or just a little bit!?

any help would be greatly appreciated!.
thanks much!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

well keep tuning it down!. play it by ear!. if the problem is what i think it is, ur string is coming out of the machine head!. but tune it down a whole turn, also turn all sounds are off in the room in which u are tuning!. and turn all fans and such!. also try pulling the string a little when u think is is in tune!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The tuner is probably a cheaper one!. Usually it's better to get chromatic tuners!. Chromatic tuners are those which are able to hit other notes!. (eg: A,A#,B,C,C#,Cb!.!.!.!.!.) Cheaper tuners only get guitar string notes E,A,D,G,B,E and their flat or sharp!. That's why when you get a sharp and you move it, it doesn't seem to make a difference!. Do remember though, if it's sharp than it's too tight, therefore you have to loosen it up!. and if it's too flat, it's too loose, so tighten it up!. Don't be ashamed of asking questions, we were all there once!. Good luck!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hey, your probably going from the smallest string to biggest string when you think your doing the opposite!. Try useing this website and after you know how your supposed to hear it then you can continue to use the guitar tuner or website!. This might be a little complicated so you can ask me to answer it again more clearly!.

some of the cheaper electronic tuners can be a bit frustrating at best, it shouldn't take much to make the tuner register the difference, may want to check your battery, although I've seen some that are complete junk, guitar professor makes an inexpensive tuner that's pretty cool, has a pitch pipe, and chord finder, and seems to work quite well, guitarprofessor!.com, I believeWww@QuestionHome@Com
