Question: Guitar Tech: How To Tune New or Loosened Strings!?
Everyone who plays guitar knows how to tune a guitar; it is a basic lesson!. However, a great many players do not know how to tune a guitar with new strings, or with strings that have been loosened, such as for an action adjustment!.
You must maintain tension on the string as you tighten it to the desired point!. Pull up on the string while you are turning the key, so there is constant tension on the string!. This gives resistance so that it does NOT slip out of place when you have reached the desired point!.
Pull and tighten each string as you tune the guitar, whether it was a new set of strings or a loosened set!.
The guitar should stay in tune now because you have used resistance to ensure a tight wind!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Not so!.!.!.You are not suppose to pull on the headstock ever!. That is the weakest point of the guitar!.

You hand turn it and then tighten the string NEVER tuning it higher than the pitch intended!. The string will tighten itself!. The actual secfret is to do 2 or 3 full turns on the peg!.

As for the first 3 strings, you can push the end twice in the whole and lock it before tuning!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
