Just go for it!.
Ham it up a treat and smile your teeth off!. It will make rehearsals much more bearable!.
It will be more embarrassing if people see you being nervous and shy, but if you give people a laugh and get into the panto of it, you will have fun!.
The character sounds really eccentric, so go over the top for a laugh, sing really really happy with an inane smile!.
If you can't relate to the character, then make the point that it is so UNlike you that you can carry it off!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The thing about acting is that very rarely are you ever going to play a character you can relate to!. Take it from me, in the past two years I have played a German prostitute, a wooden puppet, a valium addict married to a gay man, I've played a homosexual man, the list goes on!. I don't relate to these characters at all, but I enjoy every moment of it!. You get to play someone totally different from you truly are!. AND at the same time you get the opportunity to tell someone else's story!. The author wrote this play for a reason and YOU get to perform it in front of people who are eager to be a part of this story!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

This is your opportunity to become a better actor!. Liking the part or passing judgment on the part is not an actors thing!. Making this character stand out by really developing the strength of the songs which by the way have nothing to do with today but are of the period you are supposed to be getting into!. When you go into character you should be able to disassociate yourself with today and be that character in that period of time!. There is a wonderful opportunity here so take advantage of it and grow as an actor!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Of course you should stick it out to the end! Even if you end up doing a terrible job and having an awful time (not saying you will, of course), at least it's something to put on your resume! But seriously, you never know, you could end up having the time of your life!. That's the best thing about theatre, I find, is that you can act really silly and wacky and it's okay because that's what you're supposed to do! Go for it!Www@QuestionHome@Com

DON'T DROP OUT! what I would do in your case is kind of make fun of what im singing about!.!.!. this makes the play more interesting!. Think of it as you are the comic relief of the play and just get into your "funny" place!. Do this and you will steal the show!Www@QuestionHome@Com

you're acting, you don't have to relate to the character, just understand and perform the roleWww@QuestionHome@Com

Consider this a challenge!. Only great actors can pull off playing a character that is nothing like them!. Good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com
