There's nothing wrong with taking lessons- from a teacher, a friend, a DVD, whatever!. Use all the tools you can to learn more quickly!. It's not how long you practice a day that matters, it's what you do with your time!. Get some method books and work your way through them!. Come back to the old material and brush it up, but always be pushing yourself forward!. Learn a lot of songs, songs you like, that you hear on tv or the radio, whatever!. And know that without patience it is hard to achieve anything truly great in this lifetime!. Doesn't matter if you want to be a doctor, a teacher, a musician or author, without patience and perseverance you just won't realize your goals and dreams!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you have no patience and a limited attention span, then getting good at playing a guitar may be beyond you!. You can only get good at it if you practice a lot!.!.!. from your question, I would guess you don't care enough about learning to play a guitar to actually learn to play a guitar!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Everyone learns at a different pace!. Just keep playing and practicing and everything will come to you fast enough!. My dad is a self taught guitarist that has been playing for 40+ years and can play anything he hears!. But he however cannot tell you one note from another on paper!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Without taking lessons, it may take some time!. But for picking, you just have to work with getting your fingers going!. Finger picking takes some time to learn!. I've been playing for about 7 years now and I'm still not "perfect" with picking!. (I too taught myself)!. It's a little harder to learn without a good example to learn from!. Daily practice is best!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Like two years, just practicing!. Alot easier when you build your calluses!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
