1!. First is the most important thing- know your music inside and out!! You need to be the Ms!. Confident "I Know What I'm Doing" you when playing in front of others!.

2!. Breathe! My personal technique is to take a long, deep, slow breath in, hold it for 5 seconds and imagine all the butterflies going up to my heart/lungs, then exhale "letting the butterflies go"!. Hey, it works for me!

3!. The more you play in the spotlight, your brain will send smaller amounts of adrenaline to your body, especially to those trembling hands of yours!. (The thing is, I don't think my brain knows what "smaller" means!!)

4!. Don't drink caffine or eat sugary stuff :o( Sad but true! It makes you less jittery!.

5!. Massage your hands before you play!.

6!. Eat a banana before performing, because they are supposed to be big beta blockers and helps control anxiety!.!.!.

7!. Try to convince yourself that it isn't such a big, important deal (even if it is)!. The more you get worked up about it, the harder it will be for you to calm yourself down!. You don't need to give yourself more pressure than there already is!

8!. I suggest that you find a theme song! It's something to make you confident wherever you are!. Quoting from Ms!. McBeal's (weird) psychiatrist, "It needs to give you a lift as you walk down the street, something peppy, something with some bounce!."

9!. Be a LITTLE tad conceited-well, that really isn't a good way to put it!. Just be REALLY confident! Tell yourself that there's no use to be afraid because you know you're better than everyone else (even if you're not) Don't go overboard, but you can't have a low self esteem if you want to be able to play in front of others!.

10!. Make sure your handsare warm! Cold fingers just make the trembling worse!.

11!. Keep in mind that when you are nervous, you have a tendency to go faster than normal!. This is a BAD thing! Have the steady tempo in your mind (or with your foot) when you play!.

12!. Visualize yourself playing it perfectly and amazingly beautifully!. You might surprise yourself!

13!. Don't play 15 minutes before your audition or else you'll wear out your hands!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Everybody gets nervous in front of an audience!. Some people more than others!. I'm a solo performer, and I've found that every time I perform in front of an audience, I play my song pretty much 100% crappier than when I play it at home!. So my suggestion is NEVER perform a piece in front of an audience until you are like better than perfect!. If you know a piece from top to bottom better than perfect, then when you play it 100% crappier, it will still come out amazing!. That's my input!.

Well, I don't know how old you are, but if you are underage and your parents will allow it then have a half a glass of red wine to calm your nerves and loosen up a little!.!.!.!.you'll be hot for a moment so drink it maybe 1/2 hour before the recital!. You could go to your local pharmacy and see what they have to say!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yay! A recital! I know people will tell you to picture the audience in their underwear, or "just breathe!! everything will be fine"!. But i know that for some people that just doesn't work! There is an answer!. Its called a beta blocker!. do some research and talk to a doctor or pharmacist but it will realllly help you out!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Take a b6 vitamin the morning of your performance!. It will calm your nerves!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
