Question: When buying an electric guitar!.!.!.!?
So I'm 17, and I'm going to see my "pro" (that's a loose term, though) bro-in-law to help me pick out a electric!. He knows i'm into rock, alternative, so he's saying I should probably grab a les paul copy, like a epi!. So what type of amp should I get, and what else do I need to get with it!?
My bro will probably fill me in on this stuff, just wanting to know some other opinions!. =]Www@QuestionHome@Com

An epi copy is a great way to go!. I got an LTD EC-50 and EC-100QM, and I'm pleased as punch with them!. Of course any cheap guitar needs a setup, intonation, and should get better pickups slapped in there!.!.!. and probably shielded, make sure its properly grounded, etc!. I got an onboard buffer in each of mine, that rules!.!.!.

Line 6 is okay, it can do a lot, but nothing it can do sounds *really* good, and you can't modify it or upgrade it in any way, so if you go that way keep that in mind!.

If you can afford a tube amp, it's a good way to go!. An Epi Valve Jr for instance, or a Kustom for about the same price!. They're small amps, but they're tube, and they'll sweeten up the sound of a pedal going through them, and they both have more of the "mid rock or below" intensity level as far as their distortion, etc goes!. There's a devoted community on the net that focuses on modding the epi valve jr, so there's lots of info about it out there!. They sell 'em at Guitar Center!.!.!. ask to play on it first, don't be fooled by the single knob, use your guitar's volume to control the gain!.!.!.

Me, I love the sound of Marshall!. If you ever have a chance to pick up one of their Valvestates, you might want to take it!. They sound amazing for what they are!.!.!.

you definetely need a strap, probably a capo, a tuner, some picks, a case (at least a gig bag)

go to guitar center and ask them about amps!. i don't want to seem rude, but those guys probably know much more about guitars than your bro, and they're really helpful!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

dude, get a cheap, epi les paul 100!. throw some seymour duncans or some GFS pickups in there!.

get a line 6 spider III or a spider tube amp, and that thing will rock!Www@QuestionHome@Com

it depends, what type of sound you like!? do you want to start small and upgrade later!? What's you're budget!?Www@QuestionHome@Com
