Question: Getting involved locally in a production!?
I live in Miami and I'm a complete novice actress, good singer and dancer (I've been trained in both)!. I'd love to just be in the chorus of a repertory theatre production or something small!. But I have no idea how to go about doing it!. I know Actor's playhouse, but they take serious actor's and their classes are for kids!. I don't think I qualify at 23!.

If you have the training and the want then all that's left if for you to try!. Frequently professional theatres take in local actors for productions; it's smart all around!. First, you're supporting local talent/arts, Secondly, you're boosting ticketing sales because you are known in the area, Thirdly, if you got "it", they want "it"!. It sounds like something you should try!. I've been working in regional theatre, unfortunatly not in that area, since '99 and everyplace I've worked, including Equity houses, there is a pool of local actors in the shows!. Some have more talent than others so please give it a try! Usually places, at some point - usually at the beginning of summer/spring, the have Open Auditions, this means anyone can come in to have a go!. also, check out the website it might have info!. If not, and it's all hush hush, then call 'em, leave messages, email, if you have a head shot send it in, if you don't, find a flattering picture of yourself and MAKE SURE TO MENTION THE TRAINING!. It's one thing to take in a local who's interested in theatre but it's a little different when the local has some training!. Good Luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com
