Question: I am new at guitar, please help!?
I just recently got a guitar, and I am concerned because my fingers can barely rest on all four frets in a row, at the same time, it is extremely difficult - is this normal for beginning guitarists!? ((By the way, I am using an acoustic guitar)) Will my hands grow accustomed to it!? Is it possible that my hands are -unable- to play guitar!? Is there anything I can do to help this!? Thanks, and if you feel so inclined to share your beginning guitar stories, they would be greatly appreciated!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I understand you since I am female guitarist also but can play very proficiently!. I repair them as well!.
First, practice on finger stretch, especially the pinky finger is is, believe it or not, stronger than the ring finger especially for hammer-ons!.
Now, maybe your hand position is wrong !. Make sure that your hand is parallel to the fingerboard and not off to the side which will limit your finter stretch considerably!.

Last resort, if you think you have the right technique, make sure that you fret the notes behind the fret and not the in the middle of the two fret!. This is another technique and the sound is always better when played just behind the fret!. Email me if you need more help!.!.:)Www@QuestionHome@Com

The position of your thumb is very important!. Beginners have a tendency to place their thumb perpendicular to the frets!. What you are expereiencing is quite normal!. It takes some time to build strength and flexibility!. I have found that chromatic scales seem to be one of the best tools for building strength and dexterity in the fingers!. Start on the 6th string and in the beginning on the 7th fret and play the 7th with your 1st finger 8th with your 2nd 9th with your 3rd and 10 th with your pinky!. Beginners also tend to have their fingers flatten out at the knuckle!. Your fingers should remain arched to keep from rubbing other strings inadvertantly!. You can also find a few chords that span all 6 strings and are uncomfortable at first!. Practice putting you fingers on the correct frets and play the chord one string at a time until all 6 notes ring out clearly!. Your standard G and G7 chord are good to start with!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

there are actually different size necks for guitars, if that one is really difficult for you to get your fingers to work with, you might want to at least go to a guitar store and try others out, see if any fit!. i started playing acoustic almost a year ago, and i couldn't do much with my fingers at first, but i kept practicing, so try that too! oh and i still can't play any B or F chords to save my life!Www@QuestionHome@Com
