Playing the guitar with big fingers?

Question:So i have big fingers but i want to learn to play the guitar, i bought a guitar. when i try to hold a note my finger tips hit other strings then the one i am trying to hold causing the note to sound bad. does these mean that i wont be able to play the guitar i bought cause of my finger size or do i just need to keep practicing or buy a different guitar for my finger size?

You can just keep the same guitar. Their are many guitar players thtat have fat fingers. Here is a site to help you:

Try to keep the strings on the tips of your fingers. I have long skinny fingers and I had the same problem when I was first starting. If it still doesn't work out then don't stop playing guitar, try playing bass guitar, where the strings or farther apart, thicker and the fret are more spaced out.

If that is really your problem, you may have to get a different guitar. I have a friend that had to have one custom made.

You need to take some classes with a TEACHER... your technique is what is wrong, not the size of your finger tips. I have short, fat fingers and I also have a bad heart, which means my finger tips tend to spread out... and I can STILL play OK because I have GOOD TECHNIQUE. You just need to take a few hours with someone who can help you hold the guitar correctly and play with the proper fingering technique.
