if you have study sound engineering and producing, it can be a very rewarding career. however, you would need some kind of back up in place; ie. dont only study these things.
but yes, the first choice for selecting a career is what you enjoy so if you want, you should go for it =]

and more on a secondary note, Timbaland isnt your standard studio producers; as he was formally a solo artist, he hasnt really let go of the concept; but oh well, he makes alot of money!!

hope it helps =]

get a back up career too...this one is very ambitious

Either you have the talent or you don't. Guys like Timbaland and Pharrell...they are one in a million talents, its just not something you decide to be.

Its like me asking if I should become a painter like Picasso or a baseball player like A-Rod.

Good luck...get a backup plan though.

it all depends on how much money your willing to spend to get started

I think you can be anything you want to be. But, I think you need natural talent to succeed. Timbaland is a genius at what he does. You also need knowledge of studio setup, and some great ideas about how to get your music heard. It is very competitive out there, but you can do it. Good luck.

Only if you can produce better stuff than the garbage that's out there now and you have lotsa good equipment.....then you'll have to compete withthe payol merchants who seed the DJ's with lotsa$$$$$$$$$ to get airplay, that practice has been going on since the Alan Freed, Murray the K and Dick Clark days unfortunately, the music industry is a jungle and lemme tellya..." it ain't run by boy scouts.!" Welcome to the reality jungle of showbiz.!
