Position:Home>Performing Arts> PLEASE HELP ME SELL THIS GUITAR!!! (expert advide needed)?

Question:k so here's what' going on with this guitar. first thing i did with it was move the strap button from the back of the guitar to the top of one of the horns (to help with the balance of the guitar,, there's still a hole in the back of the guitar from where the button used to be). Next, i replaced the pickups with seymour duncans (sh-1 '59 in neck/sh-4 JB in bridge). While doing this mod i found that one of the volume pots was busted, so, i replaced that too. Aswell, the headstock recently broke off the guitar. i had a professional repair it and now there is just a visible hairline fracture (the guy who fixed it said that the headstock connection would be even stronger now and that it would even help with the intonation of the guitar. i have yet to prove him wrong.)

so how much could i sell this guitar for (keep in mind that the guitar goes for about $400 and thepickups cost me about 190$ plus instalation)

please help me out here!

With a hole in the back and a busted headstock, even if its fixed almost perfectly you'll be dang lucky to get the normal price. As the other answerer said the last time you posted this comment, most guitarists would run the other way when they see a broken headstock. I know I would - too much to risk.

Volume pot replacement is normal maintenance, and won't increase the value of your guitar. Likewise, a seller doesn't care how much item x cost to be installed, just if it works or not.

Saul's Resell Formula: Like any other musical purchase, take the brand new price and multiply it by 80%. This is usually street value. Multiply that by 30%. That's what you'll get at a pawn shop, approximately, if you sell it there. Double that and that's what you can expect to sell it for. Approximately.

I don't know if that'll help you, but it serves from my experience.

The pickups increase the selling value of the guitar by maybe 50$. Honestly, it might be a better deal for you to pull them and put the originals back in, if you have them, or buy cheapo pickups and throw those in there instead.

To my mind, even if I saw a great guitar with great pickups I still wouldn't buy it if it had a broken headstock - that's one thing I just can't fix. That is a serious negative selling point. The hole in the back doesn't help either.

You'll be lucky to get 400$. If you don't like it, pull the pickups, slap some cheapos in, take a loss of 50-100$, and use the pickups in the next guitar.
