Easiest way: go to your local music store and buy an electronic tuner.

Starting with the string at the top (nearest your face), the notes are E A D G B E

I've got a degree in music and I can tune by ear, but I use the electronic tuner whenever possible--it's more accurate than my ear and allows me to make finer adjustments.

yes you could do that. OR YOU CAN BE LIKE ME AND BE A CHEAP MUMBO JUMBO LAZY BUTT. and use online tuners :)
