I want to learn how to play the piano?

really get a piano teacher. but before you do, try learning keys, posture, simple scales, and getting familier with it. OH also learn which finger is which number.
your piano teacher should purchase books for you to play out of.
really get a teacher but learn basics first so that it will go alot faster and easier.
you should learn. i've played for 8 years and it's definantly worth the money and time.

Do you already read music, and know how to keep a beat? Then get an intro piano book from your local music store. Ask them what they have for an adult newbie.

If you do not yet read music, I'd suggest starting with some lessons from your local piano teacher. The music store again: they probably have a long list of piano teachers looking for students.

You'll sound a lot better if the piano is in tune. Expect to pay $50-100 for a tuner, depending where you live and how bad it is.

I started a year ago with an adult beginners book. If you already know how to read sheet music, that will help you big time. Also, if you know someone who plays, you can get a quick starter lesson and ask them for help along the way.
