I have to sing the song below at a charity event- any serious tips welcome?!?

Question:Here's a YouTube link- I have to sing this song, with a band, as accurately as I can to the video (the band are professional).

The whole idea is that my rugby team all picked a song out of a hat, and we have to sing it (with band) at a charity event in our local town hall at the end of the month to an audience of disabled teenagers! The songs are deliberately hard to sing, I gather, as it's all in very good fun. But I want to raise the most money, so if you can offer me any tips to sound as close to this guy as I can, please share! None of us have ever even sung a note before, so like I said it's all going to be tongue in cheek!

It's old school rock, so if you have a headache, turn the volmue down...otherwise turn it riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight up!

Not my style of music at all. Sounds like all you need to do is practice screaming the words. If you've never sung before then it's going to be difficult for you to sound exactly like him. Would it be against the rules to lip-sync?

Ehmagod, i followed the link and heard the song... UGH!
My advice for you is NOT SING IT! And if you have to sing it and you're not allowed to back out, pretend you have a HEADACHE.

Its just like when you go to a karaoke bar and the worst singers rock because one they don't take the singing part too seriously and they usually perform the heck out of the song and are SO darn entertaining (usually to to point of hilarity) that people don't even care about the singing. If I were you i would apporach it form a performance and find as much fun as you can.

Maybe find a karaoke bar and practice!!
