Question:i'm thinking about learning how to play the guitar. (instead of wasting all my time on guitar hero) i have no idea on what kind of guitar would be best to start out on or anything. if it makes a difference, i am a 16 year old girl, i already taught myself how to play the piano, and i would be playing the guitar left handed. any advice or anything would be greatly appreciated.

just start with classic guitar as they are for beginners and search youtube for tutorials.

Well I taught myself how to play the guitar and it's real fun...but you can buy a left handed guitar at a guitar shop!

first of all you should learn on your dominant hand that way when you do learn it will be easier to learn left handed. now you should start with an average acoustic guitar because they are easier to hear the sound with, then when you get better you could start learning a 12 string or and electric.

15 years old, formal guitar lessons for 2.5 years. Self taught for half a year.

You should be able to pick up the theoretical aspects of it quickly because of its deep relation to the piano (notes, scales, etc) . Some important basics would be: Finger positions, Picking exercises, Rhymetic exercises, Learning basic chords. etc (all of this will depend on your style of music; classical guitar requires different picking styles etc then say rock and roll). Youtube can be a valuable source for free guitar lessons as well as many guitar websites. For basics i highly suggest finding easy songs to play and simply reading the tablature and learning them (some tab sites teach you how to read them others dont, ill give a quick schema for it right here: they tipically look like this
--#-----(Highest pitch; 1st string) E
------#-(2nd string)B
----#----(3rd string)G
--------(4th string)D
--------(5th string)A
---------(lowest pitch string; 6th string) E
the number sign corresponds to a fret on the guitar I.E. 1,2,3, etc
also some basic chords to look up/ learn
E,A,G,D,C,F (make up alot of rock songs and many beatles songs, and you will pick them up quickly)
cant say much else lol. just practice and after a while you'll be able to play/write stuff without much thinking and it only gets better from there :) good luck
