Yes there are different types altos and sopranos. They help you find out which you are. Then they work with you on whats best for you to sing. They'll show you throat excises and breathing tips on how to breath when singing. You'll have lots of fun. One tip. Don't hold back. let it all go in your vioce. I have a habbit of holding it back. I know I can sing a lot better . But tend to hold it back. Habbit! Have fun! : )

Traditional voice lessons are aimed at well-established music. Assuming your native language is English. The order of study generally is English and Italian, then moving into German and lastly French.

This improves your pronunciation and producing of the pure vowel sounds.

Not saying you can't find a teacher who'll teach you pop songs, but you have to learn to walk before you fly.

I would suggest going with a tenor voice teacher, if you're tenor or a soprano and a baritone or bass voice teacher, if that's what you want to sing. When I say bass or tenor teacher, I mean that that's what they're voice is and that's what they sing. A voice teacher regardless of what they sing can teach you.

There's lots of things that go into voice lessons, how to breath, finding your voice, your range, correct pronunciation, intonation, standing, bowing, basically performing before an audience.
