Bass players?

Question:i dont know if to play guitar or bass.
can any bass players convince me to play bass instead of guitar?

i dont want to play guitar because i dont like learning chords.
i dont want to play bass because i think im gonna get bored of it and because you cant write songs.

Well I think you should learn both, but to start out with is guitar. Guitar is a fun instrument, I know the chords suck (after 10 years of it, I should know), but that's just music, you will get over that. The fun part about guitar is, you can make very intricate music than the bass (I'll explain more about the bass later), you can learn how to "shred" (this might take a few years, don't be discouraged though), and you will be able to play alot of stringed instruments if you know how to play guitar. You should play bass as well because: A. Bass will develop your calluses make it easier to play any stringed instrument. B. Bass is pretty fun to play when you play jazz. C. You will never get bored with the Bass, there are alot of things about the bass that you don't know yet, until you start playing it. and D. Bass helps finger strength. Overall, you should learn both, but learn Guitar first. While you are learning the guitar, you technically are learning bass as well, because the bottom four strings, are the same strings used in the bass. Guitar is not all about chords you know, the guitar can do some pretty sick stuff once you know how to really play it. Same goes for bass, I know a friend who can play really fast with the bass just with his fingers! Hope this helps!

Trust me it's hard work but bassists are a dime a dozen.
You don't hear about the bassists getting all the girls do you?
But really just learn both, in my opinion bassists are underrated and bass is really important to the song but you'll have an advantage to playing both.
