In my opinion you can never fully learn/master the guitar. The more you learn the less you realize you actually know. So I have to say to those people who think the guitar is easy, that means they suck. I have been playing nine years and have a BA in music with a concentration in classical guitar.

I consider a good guitar player not just by years, but what they can play. Different styles, skill level, speed, musicallity, on and on. I would say though 7 years is good but some of the great guitar players played 20-45 years.

Gawd, I'm still learning... I can't friggen switch chords as quickly as I need to...

:)

a month to really get into it at first its just like "GRRR!!!!" just wait until u get ur finger strengnth up

I've been playing for 19 years now. I had a good teacher and learned "how to play" in less than a year. But, I still feel like I learn something new all the time.

if you want to get really good, you need to live with your axe.

my cousin started freshman year of high school without knowing how to play guitar at all, and now she's in her first year of college and she's really good. She took lessons all through out high school and continues to practice whenever she can

it depends on genetics about how fast you learn but after that its all about dedication. My whole family r musicians so I was decent after a few months now its been 2 and a half years and I can pretty much play anything that's reasonable. Keep at it! You will get it!
