Position:Home>Performing Arts> Cracked cymbal?

Question:My dumba** friend apparently doesnt respect any of my stuff

He pounded way to hard on the crash, now it has two cracks.
One about 1/2 inch long and the other is a little less.
i was wondering, should i just deal with the cracks and keep playing? Or buy another crash? Or do music stores usally have warranties or whatever you call them, to return it and get a new one?

Cymble is: Zildjian ZBT 16" crash. are these easy to break, or was he really hitting it to hard?

P.S. it does sound a little differnt, it dosent ring for as long and theres a tiny rattling noise when its about to stop.

IF its a brand new cymbal. Take it back to where you bought it from. Take your receipt too, you'll need it.
It should still be under warranty and you should be able to exchange it and get a new one. Cracks can damage the cymbal....Cracks are a cymbals worst enemy. EVEN one little crack can totally change the tone of the cymbal.

Trust me, I've ruined and cracked few good cymbals in my time. I've destroyed a Paiste 10" RUDE spash in only a year because I hit that thing so hard so many times. I had to trash it literally. It was no good. Good luck

If you like the new tone, and want to keep the cymbal, you'll need to drill a very small hole (1/8") at the top of the crack and then carefully file the crack to stop the rattling noise.
Warranties are only for manufacturers defects-very hard to prove.
Cymbals are not easy to crack, but I've done it before.

Yeah, the first guy is right. Also, ZBTs are Zildjians, yes, but they're not very good quality. I get the Custom A's. They're more expensive, but I've never cracked one and they still sound great. Also, you may want to get at least an 18" crash. The bigger ones are more durable.
