I'm assuming you mean you are writing it...
I'd advise you to pick something that you relate to. I'm guessing you aren't too old (I might be mistaken), so try perhaps a sport you play, or a hobby you do. I just recently saw a musical about spelling bees, and it was actually quite good! It may not have the impact of say, South Pacific or Chicago, but you'll be a lot more inspired by something you are familiar with. My recommendations would be..
-science fair
-any sport
-an afterschool job
-turn a familiar story into a musical (disneys are classics!)
-or just a straight up story about highschool or college. It's slightly overdone, but it seems like you are doing this more for personal benefit than anything.
