Question:so i want to lear how to play it, its always been one of my goals and im turning 18 and i really want one, and i think i might get it, so is it possible to learn with just messing around with it....like not taking a class and just teach my self? and what songs are good to try to copy from and learn? like easy ones...? any suggestions or opinions or ANSWERS =]...thanks people

Sure you can teach yourself! Thats how I learned. You could either buy a beginner book and teach yourself from there (that way it will also help you learn to read music if you don't know how) or if you are relatively good with pitches you might be able to figure some songs out by yourself!

As long as you are willing to practice you can learn it for sure!

the only thing that I have found with older people (I use to give all kinds of different lessons at a local music store) is that they get frustrated more easily. People think that they can't have their hands do two different things and they can have their feet doing something else...

you just have to have the mentally that you can do it...
Like little kids...they don't fail at playing the piano because they haven't been taught that they can't do it and can fail...

Anyway, keep your chin up and jump into it!

It's great that u have decided to take this up. It will be best if you start off with a teacher, at least for the first few months, if you haven't had any formal training before. Music is quite complicated so it's good if there is someone to lay the proper foundation. Good Luck!
