How long does it take to learn guitar?

I'm also learning the guitar too. Really it all comes down to practice, practice. I heard once that we guitarists should play on days that end in a "y". It also is how dedicated you are. There really isn't an exact estimate, but I would say 8 months to a year.

about 5 to 6 months to get all the basics down and a year or two at most

If you really want to play and are REALLY dedicated and want toplay really good songs then it should take between a year-year and a 1/2 hehe, ive only played 2years and know some fob songs xD

Like with any instrument, it takes practice and patience. For some it may take a few months. For others it may take years.
