for rock metal, buy a digital delay and a good overdrive... Digital delay is effective when you finger tap, and the overdrive is good for arpeggios and bends since it makes the playing more responsive.

although most processors are tone suckers.

I just don't like digital multi effects personally. Get a good distortion pedal and a good reverb or delay unit. If you spend $100 on each you will be in your spending range. I like the RAT distortion myself but there are several good ones out there.

200$ won't get you much in either department.

I prefer multifx for *clean* things like chorus, flange, phaser, and delay. Distortion is best left in the amp or in the analog pedal.
