The bow will need a rehair and this has to be done by a professional luthier. Take it to a violin shop and they will give you a quote.

You may as well take the violin along too and see what it is worth. You never know ; it could be quite valuable.

The violin may need some work.

Take it to a proper violin shop...not a general music store.

A professional can repair it. The bow strings will have to be replaced. Check with your local music store - any place they sell musical instruments.

Those are not bow "strings" but they're bow "hairs" - and it's very common to have a bow rehaired every year, and every six months if you're playing a lot.

Just take it to a luthier and have it rehaired. Look under "violin" in the Yellow Pages.
