WWRY college production. Help with set please!!?

Question:How do you get the guitar to appear out of a rock? Any ideas for set that doesn't cost the Earth? Help me Obi-Won Kenobi, your my only hope.

The rock can be made out of foam rubber (the kind you would find in couch cushions - you might even be able to find old foam rubber free). There is a special spray glue made for foam rubber, just google it. Layer the sheets of foam rubber together, and cut a slit in the middle of the top so the guitar can be pulled out.

The foam rubber can be trimmed to look like a rock using an electric carving knife. (The kind you would slice a turkey with - if you can't find one, they'll have them at a Target or WalMart for under $20.) Finally paint the foam with paint that is safe for rubber and plastic. It HAS to say it is safe for rubber and plastic on the can - normal spray paint will eat the foam rubber.

Best bet.......

Try to stay away from plastics. Plastics will likely mean petroleum products.........and petroleum products will cost the Earth.

Try to create a rock out of recycled newspaper by putting in many pieces of old newspaper.

Then, place any guitar--acoustic, electric...whatever....behind the area the audience cannot see. Even better....hide that guitar inside those newspaper pieces, so I guess to blend those colors in, white- or gray- colored or even black-colored guitars will be best.
