Starting on the acoustic is easy, because you don't need lessons. All you need are chord finger positions, and some easy tabs. Any site that shows you finger positions for basic chords will work perfect. Get tabs to simple songs that you know and like. Anything using E, A, G, D (Major and minor) chords are easiest for starters.

As long as you know the chords and songs, it's really a matter of practicing. Where you take it from there is up to you. I never really used a single site. The acoustic is so much fun because you can really practice with whatever you want. Start with simple strumming then you can move up to picking individual strings.

If you want to get into serious theory and technique, try this site. It's geared towards electric as well, but it covers it all:

Forgot another one. Expert village has some good videos in the Music section:

drums & more (GOOGLE IT)

You can learn at my place...But in all cerealness, just join a forum that will walk you along in learning the ins and outs.

I'll teach you for free

eh,its all about the "hands on" experience,im not sure a book or website will really give you the "training" you need to master the skill,it's good to combine websites like that after you have a little training with someone...but you need some type of instructor to set you on the path your looking to achieve....check craigslist...they normally have some people that are willing to teach for a "lower than usual" amount....

i'd get some beginner books. then learn how to read tab so you can start learning songs

yeah, I would definitely buy a beginner book, learn to read basic notes, learn to read tab and learn to play chords. If you have any experience playing other instruments it will be easier, it not you can still do it. :)

It doesn't really matter if you play electric or acoustic, the basics are the same.

A good video site: http://www.justinguitar.com
A good free ebook with chord charts: http://www.guitarchordsmagic.com/newslet...
