Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: I have to questions. 1. What is the name of the opera sopng that was in the movie the punisher? 2. Id like to know if you have any upbeat opera you would recommend. I am a music lover and listen to all generes but i noticed i dont have much opera so i need suggestions. Looks like the vocal slection is La Donna E' Mobile (from the opera Rigoletto -composer Verdi) http://www.soundtrack.net/albums/databas... Die fledermaus is a good light opera but it's by Johann Strauss Other good intros to Opera Magic Flute -Mozart Aida -Verdi Madama Butterfly -Puccini The Bat, by Mozart (De Fleudermous) I heard La Boheme by Puccini is pretty good. Honestly, a lot of Mozart is great for an introduction into opera, that's why I'm finding for myself, anyway. I'm doing an opera self-education. Since Carmen is pretty popular, you might want to try it. Read the libretto or a synopsis first though. I also love the ever popular Marriage of Figaro. Again, read the synopsis! What I particularly find enchanting though is Purcell's Dido and Aeneas. Not exactly the happiest opera, but it has some lovely arias. I'd suggest checking out a DVD of a performance. Unfortunately I don't know the best but I'm sure a few of our other posters will have great ideas. We have some knowledgable people on here! Candide by Bernstein!!!!!!!!!! http://youtube.com/watch?v=CZtjA1kLYSM It's a comic, upbeat operatta! i don't think i've ever heard of any "upbeat" opera...not the type you're thinking. Opera I do recommend are: Die Fledermaus - Strauss Tosca - Puccini Der Ring des Nibelungen - Wagner Carmen - Bizet (probably the most famous of the bunch) Falstaff is tremendously funny, I highly recommend it. most operas tend to the dramatic/tragic. however, there are some ( you have gotten some names already) Cosi fan Tutte by Mozart ( read the text along with all of them for the best enjoyment) Marriage of Figaro by Mozart the Barber of Seville by Rossini Elisir d'amore by Donizetti Falstaff by Verdi and his German cousin Die Lustige Weiber von Windsor ( Merry Wives of Windsor) by Nicolai Gianni Schicchi by Puccini ( a one-act opera, but very funny). I'd include Carmen for the upbeat music, but there's a tragic ending. you pick. and then, there's the category of operetta, where you are sure to find the lighter stories with happy endings. the Merry Widow is one of the better ones, after Die Fledermaus, which stands at the top of the list. |
