1- Maureen actually sings Alto (per the lebretto).

2- Schools could change the words, however, depending on the permissions granted, that could be considered a re-write and thereby violate copy write laws. And, for what level of school are you talking? My high school choir performed Season Of Love, but that is about the only song that is school appropriate.

3- That show is owned by Music Theatre International, www.mtishows.com, and it is currently restricted, as it is still on Broadway, and there are many touring companies that are performing it right now. It may be years before they release the rights to the full version to non-Equity companies or civic organizations. - HOWEVER in 2007 a modified edition of Rent was made available to five non-professional acting groups in the United States for production. Billed as Rent - School Edition, this version omits the song "Contact", and eliminates the coarse language of the original. There were four test shows of the Rent- School Edition. The first Rent-School Edition premiered in June, 2007 in Stuart, Florida (Lyric Theatre). Shorewood High School, In Shorewood, WI became the first high school to perform the musical in 2006

This edition MAY be available, however I am sorry that I could not find any more informaiton on it.

4- Nope. Most of the cast has said that RENT was part of their past, and that the magic of the original production will never be again.

Sorry.....I am a RENT-head, and have seen this show live almost a dozen times. It came out my freshman year of High School, and I still love the music and story today!

I would LOVE to state manage this show.....OMG!

1. Maureen generally sings the higher parts.

2. I guess it would depend on how much the school was going to change it. A word here or there, ok, but too many would change the show too much.

3. I'm not too sure about this one, but I know that because the show is closing on Broadway, it will be easier to get the rights to perform it.

4. I highly doubt that they will do a RENT 15 since the show is closing on Broadway.

5. RENT was mostly filmed in San Fransisco, but certain scenes were filmed in NYC (e.g. I'll Cover You)
