Position:Home>Performing Arts> Idea of guitar web site, give feedback please?

Question:I'm just seeking for some feedback for Songsterr, a guitar service for playing, learning, and singing online. Current version consists of 9 popular guitar songs and it's just proof of concept of future site. If you choose any song from list, you can see song lyrics and chords and listen for strumming pattern on the same page. It's really easy to learn new songs with Songsterr.

Our plan for next release is to add feature to create and edit songs by writing lyrics, arranging chords, choosing patterns and rhythm. My guess is that there can be many users who would want to add their own songs or songs of their favorite artists contributing to Songsterr's song library and forming a community around it (like guitar tab communities).

What do you think about it?

At this point, it does not sound as if you've done the necessary research to set up such a site. The music industry is already going after guitar tab sites and shuetting them down for copyright infringements. I suspect yours would as well. Even if you pay royalties to each and every artist whose music you offer, you may well go broke doing so. Why would any artist WANT you to help others sound/play like them? Can you afford a good attorney who specializes in copyright law?

Would advertising pay for the site? If so, who would advertise on such a site?

Can you afford to pay the necessary employees you'd need to run this website?

At this time, I believe the market is saturated with "how to" guitar sites. This sounds like a dark alley into which I would not venture unless I had tons of money to toss about.

Keep thinking though...

Sounds interesting to me! I am just thinking about starting the guitar and this would definately be a site I would visit (after I learn what the heck I'm doing!!)
