I wanna die...

First, let's get the, "I wanna die" out of the equation. This teacher seems to be extremely not helpful, however his negativity will make you stronger. I am in no way saying he is right, because he isn't. But, to achieve your goals, you must continue. You have an inordinate amount of self-confidence under the circumstances and let that work in your favor. I even know you can sing and dance because you feel so strongly that you can.

If you love performing and I am convinced of that, you have to do whatever it takes to keep going. No one that has ever given up has succeeded. Hang in there and find a way to make this work. Try to be optimistic even in the face of this no-good teacher. You will get past him and when you do you will feel an incredible sense of accomplishment.

just dont commit suicide or die, you should pray and come to God and read the Bible

Of course you're not appreciated if you don't act and you don't try. Singing + dancing = a singing dancer. Not a musical theatre performer.

The theatre helps those that help themselves, sister. Did it ever occur to you that maybe he wishes you would take some initiative and get over it? And perhaps he means "You are not singing strongly enough for it even to be noticed," when he says you are not singing.

If you're so sick of it, maybe you could find an outlet elsewhere. Take a stand. Don't take the class if you feel so abused. That'll teach him.

you should report this teacher to your principal. it is not right for him to treat certain students in a good way and other students in a negative way. and if he does that NOBODY (not even the ones whom he "favors" or treats well) should have to work with him. he is not suitable to be the director and he should either be asked to resign or he should be fired. but you should tell someone about this.

i had the same issue with our theatre director at school. although it was not me who reported her to the principal (it was actually our choreographer, who was NOT about to tolerate her attitude toward some students and her job), she still got reported and finally resigned. which is a good thing because now nobody even has to deal with her anymore.

don't let it go unnoticed! speak up!

practice and literally put ur heart on the line

practice ur "one line" to DEATH!

and then aif u get another part act that one to death too

then just keep doing that until u get his respect

Well sweetie...
in the performing arts industry beyond high school, a lot of really great performers get overlooked because they aren't friends with so and so, or they are in the "wrong group" of people. There really is SOME truth to being in the right place at the right time.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of directors, conductors, choreographers, etc., who behave much the same as your teacher. And much of the time, you just have to overcome it. Suck it up and rise above.

I know EXACTLY how you feel, as I was in a very similar situation. I was even told to "not quit my day job" and "you'll never make it in this industry" and "stop dreaming and face reality".

You need to take some initiative. If you're not learning what you need to at school, or if you feel that you aren't being given a chance, then take control of your education and go elsewhere. Community theater is a lot of fun- and you don't have to deal with the drama of school.

Take some acting classes over the summer through your local performing arts center or even a community college- they often have programs for jr. and high school students. Find some age-appropriate open mic nights and ask people to critique you. Heck, do a routine and post it on youtube or answers and get some feed back!

The biggest thing is to not let this guy get to you. I am now a very successful musician and dancer. I deal primarily with instrumental performance... but I never gave up. I still deal with those idiots that think their "sh1t don't stink"... but I've learned that I don't really want to work for those people anyway- so I don't!

Also, don't be afraid to speak up to your school's administration. Chances are, if he treats you this way, then he has treated others this way. They should be notified- and who knows- it could be the complaint that puts change in motion!

Good luck!
