Question:I want to buy my boyfriend a new guitar for our upcoming anniversary. He has an electric guitar and used to have an acoustic (?) guitar, but it broke so he had to throw it out.

I don't know a lot about guitars. Is there a difference between an acoustic guitar and a classical guitar, or is it just the way you play it? (Like violin vs fiddle.) Also, can I get something decent for less than $300? I could probably spend up to $500, but would prefer to keep it lower.

Are there any really good brands out there? Any information would be appreciated. Thanks!

YIPE...!!! Buy him a gift card to whatever music store he frequents he will appreciate that much more than if you buy a guitar for him.

The purchase of a guitar is a very personal thing... I could not nor would I make any recommendations because I could be wrong.

OH... to tell the difference between a Classical guitar and an Acoustic Guitar... the acustic has ALL METAL strings and the Classical has at least the top 3 strings in Nylon. BUT... the easy way.. is just look at them... the Classical does not have the SCRATCH GUARD and the Acoustic does... so you can tell them apart even if you can't see what kind of strings are on them.

wow! first thing u should try to find the type of music u are playing. My favorite brand of guitar is Fender, they make great guitars for rock and blues. The best is a Fender Stratocaster and a Fender Telecaster. You could pick some up for an alright price, but remember u get what u pay for. If your looking for an all out rock, hard rock, heavy metal, definatly go with a Gibson guitar, like a Gibson Les Paul, or a Gibson SG. Those Gibson tend to be a bit pricy though.

I'd say for an electric a
Gibson, Les Paul
or a Fender
And for an acoustic An
Ibanez!

epiphone is the best brand in that price range.
