Position:Home>Performing Arts> Does anybody have any tips on how to write a song.?????????

Question:I write a lot of music and here are some tips I always find useful.
-Don't Rush...It doesn't matter if you don't finish it right away, some songs take years to write, and they are often some of the greatest songs ever written
-Pick your theme or topic first
-Don't stay stuck on one subject
-Lyrics don't have to rhyme....and there really are no words that rhyme with Orange or purple
-Write about things you like, if you don't like your music, no one will
-Be creative
-Use those poetry skills that your English teachers have tried to drill into your head...metaphors, similes, and all those other poetic devices are your friends
-If you don't know much about music, learn something about basic chording before you start
-Don't try and sound like all the other popular songs out there, If you keep your mind on trying to sound like Rihanna, or Daughtry, or Taylor Swift or anyone else, your music will show that you are trying to copy them
-Most of all remember: There is no such thing as being good enough, If you don't feel like its not the best it can be, keep on working on it!

Write about something passionate to you.
Have a message that is worth hearing
Try to be original
Don't be depressing
Think of your audience
Avoid being complex

Write lyrics and keep writing you never know when you can use them when the right music comes along in your head...

You'll need
words
music
verses- to tell your story
chorus- something to go back to and that's catchy
bridge- a part in the song that is a bit different from the rest of the song.

Find your rhythm, get your lyrics, and make sure your words flow and are singable.

Chose a theme & Diction

Write down any fragment of an idea you have, words or music. Every so often, go back and look at them, something may come out of it.
