well guitar is the best....
i like viola out of the ones u suggested, but violins basically the same.
cellos are big and inconvinient

Cello. It has a gorgeous sound. ...But, the size of your hand/fingers would help to determine which would be easier to learn. :)

i hearth the guitar...its da bomb..but there are these things called setars..they are like in persian and mideaster music they have a realy pretty sound and i think they should be more popular..if i didnt play the guitar i would play that...its kind of like a xylaphone but bigger, taller, and u hit strings instead of little medal things..i love it

I play the cello
I loved it when I first started
but now it's like ugh
it is a really nice sound and can be fun at times
but it is big and yeah
they also cost too much
so I say either viola or violin
the bass is very big too
but I think it all depends on what you really want
all of them are great but some just have more advantages
good luck!

I would go with viola. too many people play the violin, and violas are unique.
Why not bass guitar? Bassists are always in high demand, and there are still only 4 strings.
Leah is right about cellos being inconvenient to carry, but im biased because the cello is my favorite instrument, haha.

The cello is the easiest to get a decent sound out of straight away but they are expensive....about $800 for a beginners outfit. They are also difficult to carry around ; try getting on the bus with one.

The viola is a lovely instrument but some people (myself included) find the extra length very hard to deal with compared to a violin.

The violin is a difficult instrument to learn. It takes about 6 months before you start to sound okay. But it is easy to carry around and you can get a decent violin outfit for about $300. I learn the violin and I love it.

Only buy string instruments from a proper violin shop so that they are set up correctly.
Do NOT buy it from ebay or a general music store. They usually know nothing about violins, violas or cellos and their setup is terrible.

PS Don't dismiss the classical guitar ; it is a beautiful instrument :
