Amp distortion is usually better than pedal distortion... so save up and get a decent amp, you might not even need your DS-1... or you could keep it for a solo boost (very common).

If you can afford a tube amp, it's really the way to go. Replace your pickups with hotter pickups if you want a beefier tone.

Basically, my philosophy is that if you want a beefy tone then get a good amp and slam it with some high output from your guitar.... I only use pedals for "flavoring", not for the main feast, if you get what I'm saying.

I thought that the Bad dog was a distortion pedal by scott Ian from anthrax Ahh ohh well well your boss DS1 is only good for blues and punk and at its upper limits old school rock. I would pick an amp suited to what you play for example fender tube for blues, marshall for punk and say randall for metal. I play randalls and I really like them they will stomp marshalls all day fenders will beat them with cleans but there in the same ball park. Line 6 stuff isn't even a contender for a radio shack amp really not joking.
