I play both. I sarted off on guitar...then it got stolen...then I went to drums....then I picked up guitar 10 years ago again.

So my advice to you is try both of them. Go to your music store in your town and try them both. You dont know what you'll like until you play both of them...You just have to find that out for yourself. Who knows ? You might like drums and not the guitar...or also, you might like the guitar better and not the drums.

So you really have to try them both out and see what you like best. Good luck and have lots of fun

Get both instruments and learn to play.

The drums are hard to transport and play loudly, which means you need a good sound-proof space to practice. Drummers are in high-demand, so you'll get asked to join a lot of bands. Drums aren't cheap!

Guitar is portable and easy to play. You can write songs , and provide solo entertainment. However, guitarists are relatively common. You have to be really good! It's easy to find a cheap guitar and get started.

Real musicians are competent on multiple instruments.

The drummer does all the work and gets none of the glory.
"Just get an electric guitar and take some time and learn how to play, "as the song goes.

Acoustic guitar lets you take it anywhere. No plugs.

I say start with an acoustic guitar, a Fender DG-100 NAT
for $200.00. Learn the chords. See where you are in a year or so. Then lay out the +$1000.00 for a good electric.
(Mine is a Gibson Les Paul Studio)
(Though I want a Rickenbacker 620)

if you start with drums you will do better at learning other instruments. when you work on your rhythm then everything else becomes about technique.

go with drums. besides, drummers get the gals!

Your choice - you can spend thousands of bucks on a set of drums which will drive everybody else in the house insane while you learn them, and which you will have to lug from place to place, and you will have to endure endless drummer jokes, and which take ages to learn and which are incredibly hard to play really well, or you get a guitar for a few hundred bucks which you can just strap onto your back and walk around with, and you will always be able to impress people at parties.
