I love it too! I cannot play but my physics teacher can! It's a fantastic instrument, and good on you!
I'd love to play but I am a dedicated guitarist :D

Plus practical instruments that you can carry around and sing to are the greatest!!!

if you ain't playin POLKA music YOU ain't playing the accordian

I think the accordion is awesome - I play the piano and bought an accordion so I would have something portable. (Of course, learning to play with was another thing entirely, even with already knowing the piano.) I can honk out some easy things though. The accordion is also popular with some indie bands right now. The Tiger Lillies (sp?) have an accordion in the band.

I tried to play it when I was a teen-ager. But just couldn't handle the "pumping air" requirement.

Somewhat similar to the problem of playing an organ: couldn't get my feet together with my hands. Gave up on both, and just settled for the piano: pedals? no problem!

I've played accordion for more than 20 years. Piano accordion, diatonic & chromatic button boxes, but mostly piano accordion. I am currently playing accordion in an Irish rock band, along with keyboards (hammond organ).

I think it's a great instrument & I've played all type of music on it over the years. I was even is a classical accordion orchestra for a while. It's extremely versatile & portable. Even though playing Irish & some classic rock in the band is my job now, I still like to play all different types of music for fun.
