Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: For drums, what drums do you prefer? Make, size, how many? CYMBALS: who makes the best SPLASHES? the best crashes? what sizes do you use for both? what kind? what hardware do you have and use? I like DW drums, 5 piece. 10", 12",14" suspended toms, 22"x18" bass drum, and a 14"x 5 1/2" wood snare. DW hardware, DW single thin chain drive pedal with dual spring tension. 14" zildjian new beat high hats, 16" A zildjian medium crash, and a 20" A zildjian heavy ride. I've had a few splash cymbals before, but didn't care for them. I believe that if you can do more with less, you'll be a better musician for it. (it's also less to haul and set up) The above is what I like, not what I have. What I use is what I could afford. I have a 5 piece pearl export fusion kit. 10", 12", 14" suspended toms, 22"x18" bass drum 14"x 5 1/2" wood snare, thin chain drive single tension pearl pedal, 14" high hats, 16" and 20" cymbals, all sabian B8 pro series. I couldn't afford what I thought was best (listed above). dont play but I believe ziljeynn is best when it comes to cymbals ludwig and pearl are good drums kits Zildjian, Sabian and Paiste are the 3 big boys in Cymbals. Splashes are smaller than crashes, crashes are usually used on a big finish of a section of a song, or to help move the song along. e.g. changing from verse to chorus with a crash sounds good. I don't seem to use splashes as much as my crash, most of the time I tend to use it with my crash at the same time or slightly before it, for emphasis. I really like my Yamaha Maple custom drums. 22" BD, 10" & 14" toms (i play mostly jazz). I use an old Ludwig chrome SD. Cymbals are a matter of individual choice. I like darker sounds. 21" Sabian "raw-bell" dry ride, K-Zildjian 14" & 18" dark crash. I've got a 8" A splash. Many people have commented on how much they like my 13" K dark HiHats. I think Yamaha also has the best hardware for the money. The 700 series stands hold up well. I also love the sound of DW drums. |
