Position:Home>Performing Arts> Can you work on Broadway if you don't know how to sing?

Question:Ok, so I want to work on broadway and I know the more you know how to do the more you will be able to work on. So I've started taking dancing lessons(if you know specific dances that will benefit me that would be great). The problem is I don't know how to sing, but I can blend(meaning if someone sings and I jump in then we will sound good). So I'm wondering if I should take singing lessons or is that just reserved for people who can sing? Or should I just forget about it and concentrate on dancing and acting?

Broadway isnt only musicals, its plays also....if you take music lessons and have a decent voice then you could always get an ensemble part or a swing...but dont forget, most people who want to be in a musical already have good voices, so auditioning should be fun for you!

Sure you can work on Broadway if you can't sing, but in plays, not musicals.

In musicals, dancers are expected to sing and singers are expected to dance.

you dont need to sing. like you can dance and be a background person and sing without a mike.or dont not musicle broadway stuff
