Mandolin orchestras were once quite common.
Recorder orchestras are in the ascendant.
The Portsmouth Sinfonia was an orchestra whose members played on instruments they didn't know how to play, without rehearsal; does that qualify as strange?
There's now at least one full orchestra of Chinese traditional instruments.

An Orchestra by definition is more that just bells or clicks.
